Downloadpedia is currently under development and not entirely operational. However, we encourage you to test it for us and report bugs or make sugestions.
Goals
We are attempting to build a free-access database of binary information (software, games, movies, music and anything else you can imagine). To achieve this, our project is based on two main components: the Downloadpedia Website and the Downloadpedia Client.
Using the Downloadpedia Website, users can read various details about different binary information that we make available and download it with the Downloadpedia Client.
Downloadpedia Website
This is the Downloadpedia Website and it's based on the wiki engine developed by Media Wiki. It allows users to add and read various details about any binary information that they please.
We encourage you to add your contribution to the website as you are the only one who can tell if something is missing or it's wrong. If you're looking for something in particular that you can't find, you can, yourself write about it or at least tell us it's missing and you'd like to find it here.
Downloadpedia Client
The Downloadpedia Client is a software that can be downloaded here. Once you log in with it, you can download any binary information available on Downloadpedia.
With Downloadpedia Client you can access all the information and features available in Downloadpedia Website. In addition you can make available to others new binary information that you have stored into your computer and find it of some interest for other Downloadpedia users.
Downloadpedia may seem to be a free upload/download site. However, this is not technicaly accurate. In fact, our servers are designed to magage a Peer To Peer network similar to torrents. This may result in poor download speeds and other unfortunate situations.
Downloadpedia Client does not and will never contain spyware or act as spyware.
Legal issues
Downloadpedia respects the Copyright Law. However, we do not guarantee that our users do not upload copyrighted binary information without previous permission from the author as they are free to do so. However, we have strict policies that require the banning of such users that to not respect the Copyright Law and the immediate removal of such information from our network.
